GNE together ACKSYS, Ruggedcom y Viola Systems have participated in the TecniExpo Automatizacion Exhibition that thas taken place in Barcelona between the 3rd and 5th October 2007. The exhibition that is specialised in automatization solutions for the industrial sector has allowed GNE to introduce the ACKSYS portfolio, based on Wi-Fi and media converter solutions, the Ruggedcom portfolio, based on of hardened switches, routers and media converters, and the Viola portfolio based on GPRS and 101/104 gateways solutions. September 7th, 2007 GNE has got a contract through the company ELECNOR for the implementation of the telecommunication system associated to the Monagas project for CADAFE, the power-utility of Venezuela. GNE will provide the entire telecom network which is based on a GbE fibre system with digital teleprotection terminals, digital exchanges, digital PLC with integrated teleprotection, switching-packet systems and VHF radios. The scope also includes the preparation of the engineering documentation and commissioning and training services. September 6th, 2007 GNE has participated in the colloquium of the D2 Committee of CIGRE held in Lucerna introducing the paper “Using Ethernet Service to improve Resiliency and Performance”. The paper shows the advantages that the new network architecture implies for the implementation of high-availability networks. The paper reflects the experience that GNE is getting in the deployment of this new architecture in several of the implemented projects. June 28th, 2007 
GNE together Ruggedcom Inc has participated in the Power-Distribution exhibition that has taken place in Madrid between the 26 and 28th June 2007. GNE has introduced the Ruggedcom’s portfolio that is currently distributing in Spain and that consist of switches, routers and media converters specifically designed for the electrical sector and that are fully compliant with the IEC 61850 recommendation. May 28th, 2007 GNE has been awarded by ELECNOR for the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the San Fernando II project for the CADAFE power-utility of Venezuela. This new contract is an extension of the contract Horqueta-Calabozo already implemented and consists of the supply of SDH nodes with PDH multiplexers, digital PSE, telephone exchanges and VHF radio systems. GNE has participated in the XII edition of the ERIAC that has taken place in Foz do Iguaçu (Brazil) between the 20 and 24th May 2007. The telecom system is based on a SDH network with PDH multiplexers, digital teleprotection terminals and digital exchanges. January 10th, 2007 Consolidating our leadership position in Mexico, GNE has got a new contract from ELECNOR for the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the project 706 Sistemas Norte (2ª fase) for Comision Federal de Electricidad ( CFE). The project implies the supply of a SDH fibre network with access multiplexers, digital teleprotection terminals and digital PABX. The scope also includes the preparation of the engineering documentation, network’s commissioning and training to the CFE’s engineers.
December 18th, 2006 GNE has been awarded by SIEMENS for the implementation of the telecommunication system related to the Gilgel Gibe II project for the Ethiopian power utility EEPCO which will be executed by the CYMI-SOCOIN consortium. The telecom network is composed by SDH STM-1 nodes with access multiplexers, teleprotection systems, digital telephone exchanges, PLC with integrated teleprotection. The scope includes the supply of the equipment, engineering documentation and commissioning and training services. December 7th, 2006 GNE has got a contract through the company IBERINCO for the implementation of the telecommunication system associated to the Planta Josefa Camejo project for CADAFE of Venezuela. The scope of the contract includes the supply of a SDH fibre network with access multiplexers, digital teleprotection terminals and digital exchanges, engineering documentation, system’s commissioning and training for the CADAFE’s engineers. December 4th, 2006 SIEMENS Transmission & Distribution has trusted GNE the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the ECCO 3 AIS S/S project for GECOL of Libya. The network is based on a SDH system with PDH multiplexers, digital PSE, digital PABX and Power-Line Carrier links with integrated teleprotection. GNE will provide the whole telecom equipment as well as the engineering documentation and commissioning and training services. November 22nd, 2006 GNE has been awarded by AREVA T&D for the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the Nuevo PEMEX project that inter-connects CFE with PEMEX. The system is composed by a PLC link with associated teleprotection and one high speed radio system. As usual, GNE will supply all the telecom equipment, the detailed documentation and commissioning and training services. November 10th, 2006 SIEMENS AG has trusted GNE the implementation of the telecommunication system for the Romanian power utility Transelectrica under the Nadab S/S project. The telecommunication network is based on a STM-16 SDH system with access multiplexers and digital teleprotection terminals. GNE will supply all the telecom equipment as well as the preparation of the engineering documentation and commissioning and training services. September 13th, 2006 ELECNOR has awarded GNE the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the Gabela S/S Project for ENE of Angola. The system is composed by PLC links with teleprotection as well as telephone exchanges including the engineering documentation, commissioning and training to the end user. July 2nd, 2006 GNE has been awarded by COBRA Instalaciones y Servicios for the upgrading of the relay panels for the Waha Oil Company of Libya. March 31st, 2006 The company TELVENT MEXICO has trusted GNE the execution of the telecommunication system associated to the 611 Transmisión Noroeste project for Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) of Mexico. The telecommunication systems is based on fibre optic equipment and digital teleprotection systems. GNE will supply all the equipment together with the engineering documentation, commissioning services and training for the CFE’s engineers.
December 18th, 2005 IBERINCO has awarded GNE a contract for the implementation of a telecommunication system for the power utility Comision federal de Electricidad (CFE) of Mexico. The telecommunication system is included in the 903 Cabo Norte project and consists of the supply of several telecom equipment, detailed engineering documentation, installation’s supervision, network’s commissioning and training to the CFE’s engineers. This new contract GNE becomes the leader in the implementation of telecommunication systems for CFE in Mexico. October 19th, 2005 GNE has been awarded with a contract for the execution of a telecommunication network for the Mexican power utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The telecom network constitutes a part of the project 806 Bajío (2ª Fase) that will be carried out by the company ELECNOR. Organized by the D2 Committee of the National Argentine Committee of CIGRÉ, it was developed from September 14th to 16th, in Buenos Aires. This Seminary, that it was distinguished by the interest for the Electrical Sector by the chosen subjects and by the experience and technical level of the lecturers, as it demonstrated the call that join together up to 180 assistants of Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela and U.S.A., very active and interested in knowing the new technologies and the experiences made world-wide level in the field of the automatization substations on the basis of the new standard IEC 61850, IP Networks and Digital Power-Line Carriers. The scope of supply of the contract includes the supply of telecom equipment, preparation of the detailed engineering documentation, installation’s supervision, commissioning jobs and training for the CFE engineers. Juny 28th, 2005 ABB Mexico has trusted GNE the implementation of the communications system associated to the project 715 Tamazunchale for Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). May 26th, 2005 Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios has contracted GNE the supervision and associated management works of the communications system associated to the project STU 3060 for Transelec in Chile. April 10th, 2005 TDE (Transportadora de Electricidad) of Cochabamba (Bolivia) has awarded the implementation of a turn-key satellite communication network. This new network acts as back-up system for five electrical substations. GNE will provide all the necessary equipment and will carry out the installation, commissioning and training for the TDE staff. April 4th, 2005 Iberdrola Ingeniería and Consultoría Mexico has trusted GNE the implementation of the telecommunication network associated to the Cycle Combined Power Station of Tamazunchale in Mexico. The network is composed by two differentiated parts, the first includes a LAN network, telephony system and accesses for the management of the power station and, the latter composed by the interconnection of the power station with the electrical network of the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), based mainly on PDH optical fibre links. March 14th, 2005 Elecnor S.A. has awarded GNE the implementation of the telecommunications network associated to the Horqueta-Calabozo project for the national company of electricity of Venezuela CADAFE. GNE will provide a fully operative communication’s system composed by SDH nodes and its associated multiplexers, digital exchanges, digital radios VHF and Protection Signalling Equipment. As usually in his projects, GNE will provide all the communications equipment and the preparation of the detailed engineering documentation, network’s commissioning and training of the CADAFE engineers.

The network, is composed basically by digital radio links and its associated multiplexers, and it supposes the third contract in the Middle East area. Juny 27th, 2004 The partnership formed by Abengoa Mexico and Elecnor has awarded GNE the implementation of the communication network associated to the project 104 SLT Sistemas Norte (1st Phase) for Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). This new contract reinforces our position in the Mexican market. The telecommunications network is formed by SDH fibre systems and associated access multiplexers, Protection Signalling Equipments, VHF radio and digital exchanges. As is habitual, GNE will provide all the communications equipment assembled in closets, and will prepare the detailed engineering documentation, network’s commissioning and training to the CFE staff. Juny 20th, 2004 AREVA T&D has trusted GNE the implementation of a communications system for the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) under the scope of the project of the new substation of Jebel Ali. The network is based on a totally redundant PDF fibre network for voice, data and Protection Signalling Equipment applications. GNE will provide all the communications equipment and the preparation of the detailed engineering documentation, network’s commissioning and training to DEWA engineers. December 20th, 2003 ISOLUX WAT has placed an order to GNE for the implementation of the telecommunication system associated to the Urgent Transmisión Network Reinforcement Works project for the company Kahramaa in Qatar. The network is composed by a SDH STM-1 ring with NMS and digital Protection Signaling Equipment. GNE 's scope includes the supply of the equipment, preparation of the detailed documentation, commissioning and training for the Kahramaa 's engineers. November 11th, 2003 The consortium composed by the companies ALSTOM T&D SA de CV and ELECNOR SA has awarded GNE the contract for the implementation of a telecommunication network for the Comisión Federal de Electricidad de México (CFE). The network is comprised between the 50 LT 610 Transmisión Noroeste-Norte project. It is basically comprised by a SDH STM-1 network and PDH associated multiplexers. GNE's scope includes the supply of the equipment, preparation of the detailed documentation and commissioning. April 25th, 2003 Isolux Wat has awarded GNE a contract for the implementation of a telecommunication system for the power utility Electricidade de Moambique (EDM) under the new substation Matola placed at the South of the country. The telecom system is mainly based on Power-Line Carrier transmission systems through High Voltage lines and associated Protection Signalling Equipment, coupling devices, optical transmission system for the interconnection with ESKOM (South Africa) and digital exchanges. GNE will supply the whole equipment together with detailed engineering documentation, installations supervision, networks commissioning and training to the EDM's engineers. March 31st, 2003 GNE has been awarded with a contract for the implementation of a telecommunication network for the Mexican power utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE). The telecom network constitutes a part of the project 55 LT Red Asociada de Transmisión de la CCI Baja California Sur I that will be carried out by the companies Elecnor and Abengoa for the electrical substations Olas Altas, Coromuel, Punta Prieta and Beldades, placed at the south of the peninsula. February 25th, 2003 GNE has got a contract with the company ABB Utilities AB for the implementation of a communication system for the power utility Electricidade de Moambique (EDM ). The project is related to the electrical substations Guru, Cuamba, Lichinga and Alto Molocu placed at the Northeast of the country. The telecommunication network is based on a Power-Line Carrier transmission system over High Voltage lines, coupling devices, Line Traps, Protection Signalling Equipment and digital exchanges. The scope of the contract includes the supply of all the equipment, preparation of the detailed documentation, installations supervision, system commissioning and training to EDM's engineers.
September 2nd, 2002 GNE has been invited to participate in the First Annual Chief Information Officer Forum on the strategic technologies in the Power utilities environment. The Forum is organized by the Electricity Management Development Institute; it will take place in Rumania the 25th and 26th of September. The Forum will serve as a roundtable for discussion about new technologies and their applications in competitive power markets. August 26th, 2002 GNE has actively participated in the CIGRE Paris Session. The stirring interest has been produced by the discussion of the papers GNE is related with. A lively and fruitful discussion was carried out clarifying the different integration and migration scenarios as well as the new opportunities brought by the new technologies. A detailed report will be available soon. June 10th, 2002 GNE has been selected to collaborate in the NSR project, the new substation of Red Elctrica (The Spanish National Grid). The task carried out by GNE in this project is focused on the definition of the communication architecture of the new substation. Key aspects like service availability and the impact of new technology deployment on the operational performance of substation protection and control systems will be thoroughly analysed during the process of architecture and technology assessment. January 24th, 2002 GNE will take part of the next CIGRE Session in Paris with the publication of the paper "Virtual Distributed Instrumentation in the Substation Environment". This paper introduces a new instrumentation environment which is one of the concepts developed by the pure research project "Distributed Virtual Measurement Laboratory". As a complement to this contribution, GNE is also involved in the production of the two papers submitted by the WG35.07, "Substation Migration into an IP Network" and " Potential Applications of Resilient Packet Ring Technology for Power Utilities", the former develops different concepts of the new communication architecture in substations whereas the latter introduces a new broadband technology.
December 10th, 2001 GNE has signed a contract to collaborate in the project "Traffic analysis of the corporate data network of Elecnor". The project will determine the optimization opportunities both of the network topology and the capacity of the links. The Use of the IP Technology to Deploy a Modern Telecontrol Network". This paper introduces the most relevant aspects of the use of IP technology in Telecontrol applications.
October 10th, 2001 GNE is participating in a pure research project, Distributed Virtual Measurement Laboratory. Leaded by the Technical University of Catalonia and the National Scientific Research Centre. The project founded by 2000-2003 Research Development and Innovation National Plan will develop new architecture and application of mobile agents working over CORBA platforms.
